9:30am – 11:00am: Joseph Haeger, author of LEARN TO SWIM, will be available to draw you bad animal pictures. You don’t want to miss this!

11:00am – 12:00pm: Comprised of roguish, independent women, Picaresque is drawn together by a mutual respect for the work, practice, art, and play of dance. The troupe’s aesthetic conjures a world of wit and grace informed by cosmopolitan, bohemian, and modern strains. 1:00pm – 3:00pm: Ooh La La Henna will be in the store to help us celebrate Independent Bookstore Day. All of their work is hand done, using organic henna with a lavender base. Check out their beautiful work. Ooh La La Henna Body Art
1:30pm – 300pm: You know your pet is the best pet ever, but shouldn’t everyone else know it, too? Show Sarah Hulse, author of BLACK RIVER, a photo of your pet (you know you have about 5,000 of them on your phone) and she’ll write a short book jacket-style “blurb” effusively praising Fido or Fluffy! 2:00pm – 3:00pm: Rani Iyer will be presenting her new book, DANCING HEART, during our Indie Bookstore Day Celebrations. Rani’s presentation will be accompanied by a traditional Bharatanatyam dancer! This event will be a winner with all ages! Reading and Dance with Rani Iyer
2:00pm – 4:00pm: Rachel Clark is the author The Blackfish Prophecy (just released on Earth Day), and Karen Savory is the book’s illustrator. Both make their homes in the Pacific Northwest and they’re delighted to be part of Auntie’s Indie Day. They’ll have the newly-released books, as well as Karen’s fascinating block cut process to view and learn about on the mezzanine. The novel–set in Washington state—depicts a gripping story involving wild orcas, a mystical bond between humans and whales, and the impacts of orcas in captivity. Her book has received praise from Dr. Jane Goodall, David Kirby, author of Death at SeaWorld, and Tim Zimmerman, Associate Producer and Co-Writer of Blackfish. Signing – Rachel Clark & Karen Savory

7:00pm – ?:??: If you missed the cut for the 2016 Finals, the 2016-2017 season starts early this year! Spokane Poetry Slam is celebrating Independent Bookstore Day with a fully-sanctioned poetry slam! It’s a full slam, with the regular rules, and one extra point awarded for world premiere poems in the first round!
Sign-Ups at 6:30, slam begins at 7:00. Cost to compete is $5. Prize: $50.
